The First Modern Farmhouse I Fell in Love With

Parade of HomesSara Michelle B.2 Comments

The other day, while trying to get myself digitally organized (that is another entire post!), I stumbled upon pictures I took of this beautiful modern farmhouse during the Columbus, Ohio 2012 BIA Parade of Homes. It was one of the first modern farmhouses I fell in love with, and I still love it to this day! This house may have been designed and decorated 5-years ago, but the exterior is still 100% my ideal style and I love the blues and grays that highlight the interior.

This particular house was built by Miller Troyer Custom Homes. It featured 4,700 square feet, 3 full baths, 2 half baths, and a 3 car garage.

BIA Parade of Homes 2016 - Memmer Homes

Just when you think the tour can't get any better, here is another impeccably decorated BIA Parade of Homes house by Memmer Homes. The only bad thing about this one is that is the last house I toured and it was getting really busy, so I didn't get the best shots! Boo. Still, the décor is along the lines of what you'd see at Serena and Lily, Studio McGee, or Caitlin Wilson designs - nothing like I've ever seen at the parade before - and it was awesome! The navy blue gingham wallpaper in the half bath? To die for! I also really love the mirror.

Let's start the tour by walking through this beautiful blue barn door into the mudroom/craftroom.

I love that this mudroom is also utilized as a giant craft room. I could definitely use a space like this in my world!

As I mentioned, I myself didn't get the best pictures of this house because it was so darn crowded, so here is one from Kelly Nicole Scott's instagram account. Dreamy right?

See what I mean? Super busy! I love the flow of the kitchen and dining room, and the messy kitchen/butlers pantry behind the back wall with the stove.

Another shot from Kelly Nicole Scott's Instagram account of the dining room:

Yes, I flipped over the pillow to check the brand. You better believe I'm buying two of these amazing pillows from Studio McGee!

The kid bedrooms were pretty awesome too!

And last but not least, here is the exterior of the home.. Classic and beautiful!

What do you think? Do you have a favorite so far?

BIA Parade of Homes 2016 - My Favorite Interior

I'm SO excited to share this post - I just know it will be one I keep coming back to again and again for inspiration! Yesterday I shared with you the exterior of this New England Homes house featured in the BIA Parade of Homes, and today I'm going to give you the interior tour! Let's start with the family room. I love how it is very bright yet still warm, cozy, and inviting. I am also jealous because I desperately need this much seating in my family room! (I digress...)

I love how off of the living room there is a small 'music room' for the grand piano. My mother-in-law would LOVE this! I on the other hand would use it is a play room for the kiddos!

Another common theme in the parade this year was the lighter, natural wood flooring. It was in almost every house we toured. I liked it but I still don't think I could give up my rich, dark floors just yet!

Classic New England style kitchen... Can't go wrong!

Love the soapstone island. Functional and beautiful.

Butlers pantry off of the kitchen... Love the open shelving.

And this mudroom... I love these lockers! The floors actually look like my mudroom tile.. It is the best for hiding the dirt.

Laundry room PERFECTION!

Here is the den:

The Master Bedroom....

Pretty awesome house, huh? :) I'll post some more of the Parade tomorrow!

BIA Parade of Homes 2016 - My Favorite Home Exterior

Parade of HomesSara Michelle B.1 Comment

If you've followed my blog for awhile, you know of my all-time favorite things to do is to attend the annual BIA Parade of Homes in Columbus, Ohio. I think I've gone every year since I was in the fifth grade - no joke! And seriously, this year was one of the BEST years yet! So many beautiful, well-designed, impeccably decorated homes. As usual though, my favorite home was the New England Homes. It was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I loved the layout, the color scheme, the curb appeal, and especially the back yard. I took so many pictures that I will break up the house tour into two separate posts, starting with the exterior:

One of the coolest things about this backyard porch was that it has screens that you could automatically open and close with the push of a button on a remote.

The curb appeal? Ah, love this on so many levels. So my style!

I also love the idea of the barn door on the back of the garage, This led into an indoor basketball court. By far my husband's favorite thing about the house! (And as a mom of two boys, I could see this coming in handy, especially in the cold Ohio winters!)

Pretty cool right? Check back tomorrow for the interior tour!
